Back Bay

The Back Bay area of Downtown Boston is one of the two most expensive neighborhoods of Boston. Created in the 1850's, it is considered one of the best preserved examples of late 19th century architecture in America. It is bordered by green- the scenic Charles River Esplanade to the North, The Public Garden on the East, Olmstead's Emerald Necklace on the West, and Copley Square on the South. It is home to fashionable boutiques on Newbury Street- where shoppers from all over the world congregate, premier hotels and restaurants, and iconic buildings such as The Boston Public Library, Trinity Church, The John Hancock Tower, and The Prudential Center.
